my journey to yoga, nutrition and wellness

I have always been drawn to the sciences and loved to learn about the intricate mechanisms that create our inner workings. Through the years, this has led me on many different avenues of working with people. Most notably was my desire to teach and guide. I first found this tug on my heart to explore teaching yoga while I was in college - I had already been practicing yoga regularly in local studios and in high school gym (yes even back in 2009 my high school had an option for yoga as gym) and I wondered what it would be like to lead a class instead of attend. This was the beginning spark of what led to 15+ years of guiding others through asana, breath, aerial fitness, and even kids yoga and gymnastics. All of these modalities have brought joy, creativity and amazing people into my life. I am forever grateful to all my students and teachers.

As life has shifted and changed and I’ve endured many big life events- a cross country move, marriage, homeownership, parent and child loss- I’ve continued to teach yoga online and love the online community and it’s versatility and adaptability to easily move your body from the convenience of your home. But throughout this time, and really throughout all of my twenties, I had a tug to go back to school. After mulling over my options, I decided to take a few nutrition classes and go from there. In true chaotic fashion, 2 days after my wedding in 2022, I started taking nutrition classes and obtained a Certificate of Food, Nutrition and Wellness through Community College of Denver. During that semester, I decided I wanted to pursue a Masters Degree. This was a pivotal decision in my life and has opened up the world of nutrition science, including hours of lectures on biochemistry, medical nutrition therapy, food equity, and nutrition through the lifecycle. I’m proud to say that in May 2025, I completed my Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I am currently working through my dietetic internship with the aim of becoming a Registered Dietician in the near future. I’m eager to fuse my long love and admiration for the physical body and sciences with nutrition, wellness and yoga.

With gratitude <3
